Even when viewing a 100GB file, our viewer typically uses less than 100MB of RAM. This is because we only load small portions of the file into memory at a time, unlike other editors that load the entire file.
We support all major text encodings including UTF-8, UTF-16, ANSI, ASCII, ISO-8859-1, GB2312, GBK, and Big5. The viewer automatically detects the encoding in most cases, and you can manually select the encoding if needed.
Open it with BigTextFileViewer: drag the file onto the window or use Open. The file is read in chunks, so it appears immediately even at 10 GB or more - there is no need to split it first. If you only need part of it, use Go To Line or Go To Position.
Notepad, WordPad and most code editors load the whole file into memory, so they stall or refuse on a multi-gigabyte file. Chunked viewers such as BigTextFileViewer open it instantly, because the file never has to fit in RAM.
